I've finished!!!

Finally after around 6 weeks of reading I have finished The Crimson Petal and the White! Even though it took me so long to get through it I loved every word of it and can't wait to get The Apple by Michel Faber. The Apple follows some of the characters you meet in The Crimson Petal and the White but gives an insight into both their past and future. I can't wait to get to know them better!! Roll on payday!

I had a bit of a spurt on reading (a bit like my current spurt on blogging!) and also managed to get through Little Hands Clapping by Dan Rhodes in record time. And I have to say I loved it! It follows the story of a German museum curator and also some of the people he comes across in one way or another. I don't want to say too much as the contents have a suprise to them but the style made me think of a mixture between Roald Dahl and Marcus Zsuzak. I would recommend it as I really enjoyed it.

I am getting a bit worried now though as my "to read" pile has diminished down to four books and with this good weather I know I'll get through them in no time! I think I'll have to do some investing this month (I LOVE book investing!) and at least I know what to ask for formy birthday in September!

Wildlife and breakfast in bed

When I was on holiday in West Wales last week I visited Manor House Wildlife Park in St Florence near Tenby.

It is owned by Anna Ryder-Richardson and was brilliant! The animals had so much space and were really well looked after. It was so much better than some zoos you go to with small enclosures and sad animals.

I got to hand feed a wallaby which I loved!

He was so friendly and I called him Walter.

We took loads and loads of pictures but one of my favourites is this picture of a peacock.

He was so beautiful but very noisy!!

We stayed in a bed and breakfast and because we were too lazy to get up for breakfast the lady who owned the B&B left breakfast outside our door to make sure we didn't miss out!! It was so lovely of her.

Beautiful beaches

Last week I spent a few days in West Wales and spent a day going along the coast from Tenby to Freshwater West. Here are a few of my pictures:

This was a boat we could see from Tenby. It was a little cloudy though.

This was a lady walking her dog on Manorbier beach. You can see Caldey Island quite clearly in the background.

This is Freshwater East. It was so peaceful here and we managed to find a heart shaped pebble as well as some pretty pieces of shell.

This is Stackpole Quay. Its on an estate run by the National Trust. This was taken not far from the car park but you could walk across their land to reach some more beaches.

The above are all pictures of Barafundle. We walked to the beach through the National Trust land and it was well worth it. The pictures were taken in the space of about 10 minutes so you can see how quickly the clouds were blowing over. Luckily it didn't rain.

We went to Freshwater West next. You have to drive past an MoD Firing Range to get to it but it is so peaceful when you get there. There were a lot of people surfing as the waves were a lot rougher here. The sand was lovely but I wasn't so keen on the dead baby squids and sand worms near the rock pools.

The last place we went to was St Govan's Chapel. We had to double back to here from Freshwater West as the road had been closed when they were firing in the MoD firing range and had to wait until it had stopped as the road went directly through it. We were a bit worried at this point in case they hadn't actually stopped firing but we were ok! It was so worth it too. I had always wanted to go here. There is a little chapel built on the beach which you reach by going down some steep steps in the cliff. The chapel was beautiful and so was the beach. It was amazing and peaceful down there. Unbelievable to think that it is owned by the MoD.

After visiting all these places it made me think how lucky we are to have all this natural beauty so close to home.
